【摘要】:Thefracturetoughnessdeterminedbythistestmethodcharacterizestheresistanceofamaterialtofracturebyaslowlyadvancingsteady-statecrack(see3.2.5)inaneutralenvironmentunderseveretensileconstraint.Thestateofstressnearthecrackfrontapproachesplanestrain,andthecrack-tipplasticregionissmallcomparedwiththecracksizeandspecimendimensionsintheconstraintdirection.AKIvorKIvjvaluemaybeusedtoestimatetherelationbetweenfailurestressanddefectsizewhentheconditionsdescribedabovewouldbeexpected,althoughtherelationshipmaydifferfromthatobtainedfromaKIcvalue(seeNote1).BackgroundinformationconcerningthebasisfordevelopmentofthistestmethodintermsoflinearelasticfracturemechanicsmaybefoundinRefs(1-15).TheKIv,KIvj,orKIvMvalueofagivenmaterialcanbeafunctionoftestingspeed(strainrate)andtemperature.Furthermore,cyclicforcescancausecrackextensionatKIvalueslessthanKIv,andcrackextensioncanbeincreasedbythepresenceofanaggressiveenvironment.Therefore,applicationofKIvinthedesignofservicecomponentsshouldbemadewithanawarenessofdifferencesthatmayexistbetweenthelaboratorytestsandfieldconditions.Plane-strainfracturetoughnesstestingisunusualinthattherecanbenoadvanceassurancethatavalidKIv,KIvj,orKIvMwillbedeterminedinaparticulartest.Therefore,itisessentialthatallthecriteriaconcerningthevalidityofresultsbecarefullyconsideredasdescribedherein.Thistestmethodcanservethefollowingpurposes:Toestablishtheeffectsofmetallurgicalvariablessuchascompositionorheattreatment,oroffabricatingoperationssuchasweldingorforming,onthefracturetoughnessofneworexistingmaterials.Forspecificationsofacceptanceandmanufacturingqualitycontrol,butonlywhenthereisasoundbasisforspecificationofminimumKIv,KIvj,orKIvMvalues,andthenonlyifthedimensionsoftheproductaresufficienttoprovidespecimensofthesizerequiredforvalidKIvdetermination(5).ThespecificationofKIvvaluesinrelationtoaparticularapplicationshouldsignifythatafracturecontrolstudyhasbeenconductedonthecomponentinrelationtotheexpectedhistoryofloadingandenvironment,andinrelationtothesensitivityandreliabilityofthecrackdetectionproceduresthataretobeappliedpriortoserviceandsubsequentlyduringtheanticipatedlife.Toprovidehighspatialresolutioninmeasuringplanestrainfracturetoughnessvariationsinparentpiecesofmaterial(14).Note28212;Thehighspatialre.......
